I had an incredible evening at Highwood Kitchen and Bar. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and welcoming. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can really tell that the students chefs take pride in what they do. The highlight of the night was definitely the table-side service. It added such a personal and interactive touch to the dining experience. I also really appreciated the complementary dessert to end the night off. I'm already looking forward to be coming back soon.

Visited this restaurant for lunch. Service (done by the students) very prompt, polite and professional The environment is beautifully arranged with nice scenery and good space between the tables. Took under 10 mins to get the food we ordered. I had the Vietnamese chicken salad which was delicious Very affordable given the service and meals they offer. I look forward to going back

I genuinely don’t understand how The Highwood isn’t crazy popular already. It’s one of those hidden gems in Calgary that feels almost too perfect.like everyone should know about it, but you’re secretly glad they don’t. Here’s the twist: this isn’t just any restaurant. It’s part of SAIT’s culinary program, so students are actually training while serving you some of the best food in the city. Think fine dining, but on a budget. Yes, really. We tried a little bit of everything:steak, prawns (huge ones, by the way), the artichokes dip (so good), and duck two ways. Everything was cooked and presented beautifully. The menu changes often since the students rotate through different dishes, which keeps things exciting, and honestly, everything we’ve had so far has been excellent. But let me tell you… dessert is the star of the show. If they have the mango mousse when you go, just stop reading and order it. We literally begged the pastry chef to keep it on the menu forever. It’s that good. The main dining room is under renovation right now, so they’re operating out of a smaller venue: it’s cozy and still has a lovely atmosphere. But I can’t wait to see the new space once it’s ready! We’ll be coming back again and again. If you’re okay being part of the student training experience (which honestly adds charm and lowers your bill), go for it.

We had a lovely dinner at the Highwood, the team was very friendly and attentive, the food was absolutely delicious and inventive. It was great to see the phenomenal skill set of the students at SAIT’s culinary school. We can’t wait to come back!

5 stars! I took my boyfriend out for dinner for his birthday and we had such a wonderful time. The service was so helpful and lovely. My boyfriend is a Chef so he had a great time watching the education aspect. The food was amazing and unique. It came out amazing and was extremely tasty! I highly recommend dining here for the experience alone. The price was amazing and tipping is optional but goes towards the program, which we absolutely loved. We can't wait to dine here again.

The price for the amount of food was definitely a five. I absolutely loved the cream of asparagus/leek soup. The bread itself was very oily and it was served with a side of butter. The butter was herbs and salt, not too flavorful - everything was very greasy. The main dish was surf and turf. The surf was more breading than actual seafood. The steak was good but was chewy and could have used a better sear. The potatoes looked so good, but they tasted like some kind of sweet potato due to the spices. The only thing I ate from the dish was the vegetables which consisted of one carrot, a turnip and one long stem of broccoli. The dessert was amazing. Even if I was full, I had to try it. Very elegant display, flavors were well balanced. Don't think I would go back again, but it was a good experience.

We went for lunch at the Highwood restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was bright, spacious and new. The food was incredible. We tried the feature appetizer of citrus salmon tartare with avocado crema, ponzu foam and crispy rice wafers. The flavours blended together to make a perfect bite and the citrus was bright and refreshing for a summer day. A five star dish! The lobster and shrimp rolls were pillowy soft and flavourful. The butternut squash soup was velvety smooth and the best I’ve eaten. The Highwood bread is addictive and a must have on the menu. Well worth the extra carbs! This meal was a great dining experience. These culinary arts students are talented, creative, hardworking and have found their niche. We are looking forward to coming back to try the dinner menu very soon. Reservations are required.

I enjoyed my meal here and will return. Service was very good. Hostess terrific, waiter a bit nervous but was friendly and efficient. Artichoke dip was delicious. We asked for more of the delicious bread as 1 triangle per person wasn’t enough to use even 1/2 the dip Duck two ways was amazing and perfectly cooked and gnocchi could have been own dish. Chicken was perfectly cooked and potato pave was a nice change. Stuffing needed a bit more seasoning Desserts were fresh and light and not too sweet. Ginger cake was yummy. Tapioca lacked some flavour but rest of the dish was good. Amazing student learning environment and great value for a fine dining meal Drinks are very reasonably priced
